The Andiroba tree (Carapa guianensis) is native to tropical South America. Extracts from its bark, flowers and fruits have been used for centuries by the Amazonian people as a source of prevention and treatment for a variety of ailments: arthritis, inflammation, skin disorders, fevers, flu and depression - not to mention as a highly effective insect repellent. It possesses a unique combination of essential fatty acids called limonoids and triterpenes.
Andiroba oil, a premier ingredient in AMAZONLIGHTS, is extracted from the round chestnut-like fruits that bear seeds which, in turn contain the rich, yellow oil. Though the method is primitive - the seeds are boiled and later squeezed in a wood press known as a tipiti - one Andiroba tree can produce nearly a quarter of a tonne of seeds annually. The Andiroba seeds are composed of 50% oil, making this one of Brazil's most sustainable rainforest products.
All of our premium products contain the oils of andiroba, citronella, rosemary and thyme. Combined, they make a very unique, effective and aromatic product. Give them a try individually or in combination and you will be very impressed with their effectiveness. ANDIROBA Oil is the unique ingredient that sets AMAZONLIGHTS products apart.
